In memory of Tom!

My response to a missed call @ 7.55am from Julie this morning, brought fatal news!! Between sobs, Julie mourned over the loss of Tom, her darling shih tzu/yorkie cross .... Cause of death? Unknown.... Tom had always been frail though.....

Julie was still crying her heart out when I chatted with her a while ago. I know what it's like having lost my rotty (01/10/08).

Tom, I miss you too....

My maids made off with my handbag!!

Hi! I'm back! I laid off, not because of waning interest to blog but because of my exhaustion from covering chores initially undertaken by 3 persons!! Good exercise though!!

It was a Monday morning (22/02/10) between 6.30am - 7.00am on a "Chap Goh Meh" that I discovered the maids gone, with my handbag ! I had conveniently, the night before, left on the chair, my handbag containing rm6,000 (which was to be banked in), 2 cheque books, 8 credit cards, identity card, driving licence, a 10 MP camera, holiday apartment's keys & house keys along with important notes & documents!!

My losses did not stop there! There was a penalty charge of rm250 for each maid, Rm8000 & Rm8300 already paid to the agent when securing the maids, charges for change of locks for entire house, charges for credit cards replacement, charges for marking presented cheques etc!!

A hefty price I paid for a lesson learnt .... NEVER TRUST a maid anymore with ANYTHING!

My mum had always, on her visits to Penang, warned me to lock up my handbag & I would always brush her off with "Arghhh ..... I shouldn't be engaging them if I don't trust them!" I'm thankful Mum didn't rub into my sore with a "I TOLD U SO!!"

In fact, except for a small safe (a gift from Citibank), u would never find any drawer or cabinet with locks in my HOME! Stories of burglars damaging locked compartment etc resulting in further expenses incurred repairing, made me decide against having locks!! Guess I've got second thoughts now!

"Dogskin" Rugs For FREE @ Poochville!!

I only see this pair, this time of the year annually and, the same TUNE I would be SINGING to their OWNER! My reprimand seemed like music to her?his? ears!!

"Aiyo, I don't have the time ma... Didn't u see the trimmed face n head this time? Before, u can't even tell from head to tail, remember?"

"Oh yeah hor, marked improvement! Man, I feel sorry for your dogs!" I rebuked.

My sarcasms put most people off but there are just as many (e.g. this particular person) who took them in good spirit knowing that I meant well!

Try as I would to be tactful, my annoyance more often than never, supersede my train of thoughts to be mindful of others' feelings!!

When you subject your pets to such condition of densely matted fur, skin infection arises. Residue trapped within after shampooing can never be thoroughly rinsed off thus causing irritation to the skin. In this case, I do not know if it is the dogs which are fortunate (as apart from some noticeable red spots and tell tale signs of residue, the skin seem alright) or the owner who is lucky as she?he? need not incur medical expenses for treatment!

Busy as I was, I took great care to ensure the coat of each dog in one piece !

Their owner shied away from my camera .... "Leena, please ...not on the blog!!".....instead, flashed a quick shot of the dog skin rugs with a hand phone before dashing off with the two darlings, n giggling over the RUGS!!
"HEY! ENSURE NO MATS NEXT YR!!" I yelled!

Ain't they adorable minus their coats?

This is another pathetic pooch.

Thumbs-up to Kenneth for his dignified deed!!

Kenneth turned up punctually with a pekingese in his arm. Stroking the pooch, I asked...what's your name? Quasi ...offered Kenneth. Mmm....nice name I thought. My task made simpler too, when running through my phone directory! I've got, on my list, too many Baby, Bebe, BB ..... and the like, Ben, Bobby, Bobo, Brownie, Buffy, Casper, Coco, Curly, Cute, Happy, Fifi, Fluffy, Girl, Ginger, Goofy, Jojo, Kiki, Lucky, Max, May, Momo, Pipi, Prince..... that I was always doubtful of which pad to hit should I need to ring the owner up for one reason or another!

Quasi's previous owner left him with the SPCA and it was from there that Kenneth adopted him 5 months ago (soon after Quasi's eye operation) for rm300. Ain't that a noble act that we should emulate? If only there are more people like him.....

Curious to know what Kenneth is by profession, I text messaged him the question, to which he replied..... a medical student!! With such a kind-hearted soul and a suave disposition, I bet he'll make a great doctor!!

Kenneth, are u still eligible? Should I post your contact here?

Ca-Ryn threatened to delete my blog when I mentioned quoting her as "available"! On a serious note she insisted that the blog should not be spiced up at her expense. She would not allow herself to be a subject of ridicule amongst her friends reading my blog! Darling, your threat carries no weight as your mom, i.e. me! have had my password changed!

Jokes aside, SPCA welcomes your support be it in cash or in kind to help upkeep the animal shelter. In case you may not have noticed, this donation box sits in the corner of my shop.
