Obsessive Compulsive Disorder?

A month ago, Dr Ng Siew Hian, my sis-in-law, asked, "Why did you keep washing your hands?" "Did I? The dust or perhaps the heat, I suppose." I realized then, within the 10?20? minutes touring her almost completed home which went through 7 months of renovation, I've already washed my hands 5 times!!

The recent article on OCD The Star, Sun 19/06/11, struck me if I'm suffering from this!

Being so meticulous about cleanliness and symmetry, I feel stress out, harping my maids about hygiene which they all LACKED!... and straightening objects such as display ornaments, scattered cushions, bedsheets, pillows, tables, chairs ...., that they simply thrust after their cleaning chores!!
Am still pondering over my answers to above questions and whether treatment should be sought!!!!

Pampered for choices!

With all the beauty parlours mushrooming, one cannot feel otherwise but pampered for choices! Advertisements splashed through pages and pages of brochures and fliers dropped into our mail boxes every too often!

Typical of a Penangite, I scout around for bargain prices and randomly picked centres located to my convenience! Within a week, went through 2 facial sessions at different outlets! Sporting a clear complexion all my life, it never struck a need to waste $$$$$ plastering my face with masks... gels... or even moisturisers!!

Relaxing on the bed, thrusting chin upwards, with my eyes protected from the bright light thrown onto my face, I hope to enjoy a good massage. "Got wrinkles already yo!" blurted the beauty consultant, breaking into the silence of the room on my second trial visit. "With this lighting, cannot escape one, I can see 3 fine lines here and 2 here. Must take care already woh......" touching the 2 spots right beneath my eyes.

REALLY? What had gotten into my eyes that I have to be told of wrinkles I don't see? Anyway, ain't having wrinkles at my AGE normal??? And, only to be visible under lighting for close-up chores, is flattering.... Many, in their mid twenties, already have crow feet around corners of their eyes, I consoled myself!

Whatever, this lady was deft with her eye massage, applying pressure at the right places around eye area and temple, unlike the consultant who targeted at all but the right spots during my visit to the first beauty salon! The cold gelled ultrasound massage, not carried out at the second outlet was more relaxing though!

It was the blackheads or so I thought, on my nose that triggered off the visits to the centres. Not properly dealt with, during the first visit, I sought the expertise of the second consultant, who confirmed that they were indeed HAIRS that blocked the pores thus making the tasks of removing difficult! YOU BET!! My nose is still bruised from the visit.

Hope the sessions will not bring about acne breakouts and skin infections as cautioned by Tuinny, while I source for a VALUE FOR MONEY centre which caters to my satisfaction!!...

How unsightly!

Since left with only one miserable maid, I procrastinated dental care for my darlings! I deserve a slap on the face, a punch on the nose and a kick on the bottom for such NEGLECT!! The tartar built-up is atrocious!!

Had I not prised Capri's jaws to retrieve debris she mouthed from the floor, I would not have noticed such TERRIBLE SIGHT!! Upon checking, I felt sorry for all of them!

Equipped with just a pair tweezers, I spent the entire Sunday afternoon scaling Capri, Chavez, Crimi and Cookies! Another round of thorough cleaning to be administered coming weekend! Sent to a veterinary surgeon, I'll be charged at least Rm250 per dog!

Should you attempt to scale your pooches, ENSURE neither cheek nor tongue is pinched with your tweezers causing excruciating pain resulting in ulceration!

Oh yes! Past few days had been hell for me! With insomnia, and my only source of entertainment the Internet robbed of me!

09/06/11 morning - "Type http://speedtest.streamyx.com.my/ then, check the reading." advised the operator Hidayah @100 service fault centre. "Download depicts 94 while upload depicts 340. What should they read?" I asked.

"800 and 150. What's your user name and password? Please connect your pc to the modem for further checking before we send the technician over."

No wonder downloading was almost impossible! For the past 2 to 3 weeks, I had already encountered frequent service disruption and had only lodged the report last week after chatting with Ca-Ryn to be told by the operator then, that on going maintenance caused the interruption of service!

"What? User name? Password? I know nothing! My daughter arranged everything before she left for Beijing!" I cried in dismay! "We settled for wireless line as the modem is by my bedside while the desktop pc is across the room. What should I do once I borrowed a laptop?"

I scribbled as Hidayah patiently mumbled "Go to 'start/control panel/network connection/right click local area connection/properties/highlight Internet protocol/ properties/obtain ip add automatically/use the following dns server/preferred dns server type 202.188.0.133/alternate dns server type 202.188.1.5'"

That evening, after several failed attempts, I dialed 100. Line 100 was also down! Relief overcame me when operator Fikli finally responded. I narrated the whole scenario and like a monkey trying a headstand, I struggled simultaneously requesting him to go at a slower pace as he instructed. Whether deliberate or not, the line was cut off after some 30 mins?

SHIT!... I called again. After some lengthy 30 mins? again? attempt to address the problem, failed, operator Miza gave up while still insisting that there is connection and to wait for at least 24 hours before a technician will be sent pending severity of a case. My report number was 1-8179625405.

10/06/11 late afternoon - "Ms Wong, Internet line ok already. If still not ok, please call again tomorrow, ya....." an operator called up to notify me.

I dashed home, clicked ....'Internet Explorer cannot display web page' WHAT THE DEUCE!!!

Operator Ram, sensing my frustration, diverted my call to her superior Mia this time.

I RATTLED "Why wait till tomorrow Saturday to call, huh? With Sunday being an off-day, my problem can only then, be attended to, on Monday, if I'm lucky? My gosh! Depriving the old lady me the joy of entertainment is SEVERE especially when I specifically signed up for the monthly Rm110 commitment for unlimited usage!!! You see connection on your side ... I see 'Internet Explorer cannot display web page', so what connection are you talking about? I am certain it is your modem that is malfunctioning! Send your technician by tomorrow!"

11/06/11 - Technician changed modem! I was right after all!

Frankly, the operators have all, been pretty courteous and obliging, rendering assistance within their delegation.

Of late, am always suffering from insomnia! Iching begins around eightish in the evening and subsides towards dawn! Weird that it doesn't occur in the day! This sympton which started early this year, persists till now and .... worsening. What could be the cause?
