Oh yes! Past few days had been hell for me! With insomnia, and my only source of entertainment the Internet robbed of me!
09/06/11 morning - "Type http://speedtest.streamyx.com.my/ then, check the reading." advised the operator Hidayah @100 service fault centre. "Download depicts 94 while upload depicts 340. What should they read?" I asked.
"800 and 150. What's your user name and password? Please connect your pc to the modem for further checking before we send the technician over."
No wonder downloading was almost impossible! For the past 2 to 3 weeks, I had already encountered frequent service disruption and had only lodged the report last week after chatting with Ca-Ryn to be told by the operator then, that on going maintenance caused the interruption of service!
"What? User name? Password? I know nothing! My daughter arranged everything before she left for Beijing!" I cried in dismay! "We settled for wireless line as the modem is by my bedside while the desktop pc is across the room. What should I do once I borrowed a laptop?"
I scribbled as Hidayah patiently mumbled "Go to 'start/control panel/network connection/right click local area connection/properties/highlight Internet protocol/ properties/obtain ip add automatically/use the following dns server/preferred dns server type 202.188.0.133/alternate dns server type 202.188.1.5'"
That evening, after several failed attempts, I dialed 100. Line 100 was also down! Relief overcame me when operator Fikli finally responded. I narrated the whole scenario and like a monkey trying a headstand, I struggled simultaneously requesting him to go at a slower pace as he instructed. Whether deliberate or not, the line was cut off after some 30 mins?
SHIT!... I called again. After some lengthy 30 mins? again? attempt to address the problem, failed, operator Miza gave up while still insisting that there is connection and to wait for at least 24 hours before a technician will be sent pending severity of a case. My report number was 1-8179625405.
10/06/11 late afternoon - "Ms Wong, Internet line ok already. If still not ok, please call again tomorrow, ya....." an operator called up to notify me.
I dashed home, clicked ....'Internet Explorer cannot display web page' WHAT THE DEUCE!!!
Operator Ram, sensing my frustration, diverted my call to her superior Mia this time.
I RATTLED "Why wait till tomorrow Saturday to call, huh? With Sunday being an off-day, my problem can only then, be attended to, on Monday, if I'm lucky? My gosh! Depriving the old lady me the joy of entertainment is SEVERE especially when I specifically signed up for the monthly Rm110 commitment for unlimited usage!!! You see connection on your side ... I see 'Internet Explorer cannot display web page', so what connection are you talking about? I am certain it is your modem that is malfunctioning! Send your technician by tomorrow!"
11/06/11 - Technician changed modem! I was right after all!
Frankly, the operators have all, been pretty courteous and obliging, rendering assistance within their delegation.
