Once fixed at "What's on your mind?", there is now alternating question such as "How are you doing, Leena?" "What's going on, Leena?" "How are you feeling, Leena?" "How is it going, Leena?" just to quote a few, prompting our sharing on our Facebook's status.....
My newly acquainted FB Friend had sometime in mid December, 2012, raised Facebook's question on his Timeline status. The uploading, of yummy food and casual comments of daily happenings, a common practice amongst friends' sharing irked him....thereby prompted him to seek our opinions as to what he should be posting!!!!
My immediate response to him on my Timeline read as follows...
Xxxxxx, it is as you read it....What's on your mind?
Allow me to share with you. I was skeptical when asked to set up an FB account, until, sometime late last year when my sis-in-law mooted the idea of the family group!
Why was I skeptical ? Simply because I detest having to deal with unwarranted comments leading to the cyber war of words!! It was then that I learnt that TRAFFIC to our pages falls within our Control meaning to say, WE CHOOSE OUR FRIENDS!!!
What started off as a LOCKED within the FAMILY affair eventually led me to a PUBLIC state when more and more friends were added as I moved along. My apprehension of confrontations were soon forgotten! And yes! I've also sort of gone PUBLIC now because there is too much hassle grouping as to who or who not to share with my joy or predicament.
I view Facebook, a venue for ALL FRIENDS to interact and update each other of one's life events. Instead of calling upon each and everyone of our FRIENDS, narrating, imparting or sharing on the same subject, all our FRIENDS will get news of OUR STATE OF MIND with a mere post on our status.
FRIENDS seeing the status have the option to or not to respond, and at their convenience too, unlike phone calling which may have reached them at the most inopportune moments!!
Just to quote a few......My DOGGIE friends having pride about their pooches will upload just about anything with regards their pooches! My STUDENT friends will complain of exams or share joy of their accomplishment in their status. My TRAVELING friends share on traveling experiences. My PIOUS friends share on religious beliefs. My FAMILY friends of course will update everything as within the family. My ACADEMIC friends like you share excerpts on jokes, life, politics.....
Summing up, be yourself! State What's On Your Mind? regardless of what you FEEL your friends would wish to see, otherwise FB will have to come up with 'What makes your friends tick?'
After all, I BELIEVE whoever you have ADDED as FRIENDS will take you as you are, failing which, UNFRIEND them as you just did!!
